New York - IMAX (NASD: IMAX), the large-format theater company, announced on Friday that it has partnered with movie theater owner AMC Entertainment, to install 100 IMAX digital projectors at AMC locations in 33 U.S. markets, effectively doubling IMAX's current footprint in North America.

The New York Times reports that IMAX will provide the projectors, which cost about $500,000 each, while AMC will retrofit the participating theaters with larger screens and new seating configurations.

The first 50 systems are slated to launch in July 2008, with an additional 25 slated for rollout in 2009, and the remaining 25 in 2010.
