Los Angeles - EdgeCast Networks, a provider of content delivery network services, announced on Monday that it has raised $6 million in its second round of funding, led by Disney's (NYSE: DIS) Steamboat Ventures.

Los Angeles-based EdgeCast claims to offer a more cost-effective content delivery network than its competitors, which include Akamai and Limelight Networks.

The company will use the new funds to expand its international reach, scale its network for additional capacity, enhance features, and further develop its sales and marketing efforts.

Including the new round, EdgeCast has now raised a total of more than $10 million.
