Paris - Bahu.com, a private social networking site for high school students across Europe, announced that it has raised an undisclosed sum of first-round funding, led by Lightspeed-Gemini Internet Lab.

Launched in July in France by two students, Bahu now counts over 300,000 members, and counted 2 million unique visitors in November.

"In addition to traditional features of keeping in touch or meeting new friends, Bahu focuses on promoting the specific talents of our users, who are mostly high school students," said Bahu co-founder Oleg Tscheltzoff.

"Writers, artists, musicians, models and others who join the site can create a special talents page showcasing their work."

The company has organized a competition for musician members in France, with a top prize of recording studio time and a slot on the bill at France's Fallenfest.

Bahu said it plans to penetrate still untapped markets, like Southern and Eastern Europe, as well as South America and Asia.
