Media-Sharing Service Smilebox Lands $7 Million

Redmond, Wash. - Smilebox, the provider of a free service for sharing photos, videos and words formatted with provided design templates, announced on Tuesday that it has raised $7 million in its second round of venture capital financing, led by Bessemer Venture Partners.

Previous investor Frazier Technology Ventures also participated.

Founded in 2005, Redmond, Wash.-based Smilebox now counts 1.8 million users of its Smilebox service, which lets them format their multimedia content with designs from partners including Hallmark, Making Memories, Madison Park Greetings and K&Company.

Distribution partners include Hallmark Cards, Six Apart and Atom Shockwave.

The company will use the funds to expand internationally, and extend its syndication and promotional partnerships.
