Seattle - RealNetworks (NASD: RNWK), a provider of media delivery
technology and services, last week laid off about 100 employees, the Seattle
P-I reported.
Company spokesman Bill Hankes told the Seattle P-I that the cuts,
35 of which came at the company's Seattle headquarters, with the rest falling
in Asia in Europe, were due to redundancies created by the company's recent
acquisitions.
Hankes added that no further layoffs were planned at the company,
which counts some 1,800 employees.
RealNetworks has over the past two years
acquired firms including WiderThan and GameTrust.
