Search Engine Developer Kosmix Raises $10 Million

Mountain View, Calif. - Kosmix, a developer of search engine technology, said that it has landed $10 million in a new round of funding from new investor DAG Ventures and previous investors Accel and Lightspeed.

The company, whose algorithm-based categorization engine has been in development for three years, said that it will use the funds to accelerate its growth.

Kosmix's consumer health site, RightHealth.com, now receives over 3.9 million unique visitors a month according to Quantcast, and its newly released consumer auto site, RightAutos.com, attracts more than 2 million unique visitors a month.

The Mountain View, Calif.-based company said that its goal is to eventually create a "start page for every topic on the Web."
