Boca Raton, Fla. - Penthouse Media Group, the publisher of Penthouse Magazine, announced on Wednesday that it has acquired Various, Inc., and its stable of social networking and dating sites that include AdultFriendFinder.com, for $500 million in cash and securities.

Palo Alto, Calif.-based Various claims 260 million users for its 25 sites, and a total paid subscriber base of over 1.2 million; its AdultFriendFinder.com site alone counts 18 million members.

"Various is an attractive addition to our already strong print platform, and one that puts Penthouse in a very robust position in the ever-growing online social networking arena," said Penthouse Media Group CEO Marc H. Bell.

Penthouse said that with the acquisition, it expects $340 million in combined revenues in 2007.

The purchase follows Penthouse's 2006 acquisitions of Danni.com and Jill Kelly Productions.

Hopefully Penthouse reverses

Hopefully Penthouse reverses the unethical practices that AFF was involved in such as advertising and helping to monetize sites that were dealing in torrents and distributing copyrighted content.
