Facebook to Offer Developer Platform to Other Social NetworksAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on December 13, 2007 - 12:34pm.
Palo Alto, Calif. - The Facebook online social network said on Thursday that it plans to offer its popular developers' platform to other social sites, and license the Facebook Platform methods and tags to other platforms. "By enabling other social sites to use what we've learned, everyone wins -- users get a better experience around the web, developers get access to new audiences, and social sites get more applications," Facebook senior platform manager Ami Vora wrote on the Facebook blog. The Bebo social network said earlier this week that its new developer code is compatible with Facebook's platform.
