San Francisco - Ourmedia, a nonprofit, free video hosting and sharing firm, announced that it has merged with Outhink Media, a provider of services to independent digital media producers.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Founded in 2005, San Francisco-based Ourmedia offers video hosting and a social network for independent media producers that claims 145,000 registered members.

"If you have a silly cat video, head to YouTube or Metacafe," said Ourmedia co-founder J.D. Lasica. "But if you want to show off your video chops and exchange ideas and best practices with fellow video producers, Ourmedia is a good bet."

Outhink had previously donated servers and development resources to Ourmedia, and also developed SpinXpress, a free peer-to-peer application that supports global project collaboration, by allowing sharing of large media files across a secure private network.
