S.F. Opera to Distribute HD Performances in Movie TheatersAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on December 18, 2007 - 10:11am.
San Francisco - The Bigger Picture, a unit of digital cinema firm Access Integrated Technologies (NASD: AIXD), said on Tuesday that it has signed an agreement with the San Francisco Opera, to distribute six operas per year in movie theaters, beginning in March 2008. Earlier this year, the S.F. Opera installed a permanent, HD video production facility at the War Memorial Opera House, the first of its kind for an American opera house. The deal with The Bigger Picture comes after a "landmark" revenue-sharing agreement was reached between the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA) and the American Federation of Musicians (AFM).
