Casual Games Publisher PlayFirst Raises $16.5 Million

San Francisco - PlayFirst, a publisher of casual video games, announced on Wednesday that it has raised $16.5 million in its third round of financing, led by DCM.

Previous investors Mayfield Fund, Trinity Ventures and Rustic Canyon Partners also participated.

Founded in 2004, San Francisco-based PlayFirst publishes casual games for computers, mobile, handheld and console platforms. Its titles include "Diner Dash," "Chocolatier" and "Dream Chronicles."

The company will use the funds to accelerate its Web and game development efforts.

Separately, PlayFirst said on Wednesday that it has partnered with widget and application publisher RockYou, to distribute and integrate its casual games onto social networks.
