Los Gatos, Calif. - Online DVD rental service Netflix (NASD: NFLX) announced on Thursday that it has partnered with Korea's LG Electronics, to develop a set-top box that will allow consumers to stream movies and other video from the Internet to HDTVs.

Los Gatos, Calif.-based Netflix, which counts over 7 million subscribes to its service, said the online home entertainment service will be embedded in an LG networked player scheduled for release in the second half of 2008.

Netflix said the planned offering is in line with its core strategy of offering a multi-dimensional service that provides members a variety of ways to receive movies and TV shows under a single monthly subscription plan.
