San Francisco - Active Athlete, a San Francisco-based online media company that connects advertisers with sports enthusiasts, said on Thursday that it has acquired San Francisco-based GolfBuzz, a developer of publishing tools and technologies dedicated to the golf community.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Active Athlete said that it plans to extend GolfBuzz's community functions -- such as personal profiles, blogs and forums -- across all of its sports channels, helping publishers and brands more easily connect their audiences with other like-minded people, information and associated products and services.

Active Athlete's roster currently consists of more than 180 sports-specific publishers and brand advertisers.
