Handmark Acquires Smartphone Game Developer Astraware

Kansas City, Mo. - Handmark, a developer and distributor of mobile games and applications, announced on Monday that it has acquired U.K.-based Astraware, a developer of games for smartphones.

Financial terms of the transaction, expected to close later this month, were not disclosed.

Missouri-based Handmark develops business and entertainment applications for BlackBerry, Palm, Symbian and Windows Mobile devices, and has partnerships with the Associated Press, MobiTV, EA Mobile and Zagat Survey.

Ten-year-old Astraware said that its products have been downloaded more than 50 million times.
