Rockville, Md. - Hillcrest Labs, the developer of a platform that lets consumer electronics manufacturers and service providers create interactive digital media products, said on Monday that it has raised $25 million in a new round of funding, led by new investor AllianceBernstein.

Previous investors New Enterprise Associates, Columbia Capital and Grotech Capital Group also participated.

The company said that it will use the proceeds to extend its pointer-based application creation platform and pointing technology to a wider range of devices that control and display digital media.

"We now have multiple deals with major companies that plan to bring our technology to market in the near future," said Dan Simpkins, the founder and CEO of Hillcrest Labs.

Founded in 2001, Hillcrest is the developer of a pointing technology, called Freespace, that can be used in a range of consumer devices including remote controls and game controllers.
