Dick Glover has been named CEO of Funny or Die Networks.  Glover moves to the Internet company founded by Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Sequoia Capital general partner Mark Kvamme -- from NASCAR, where he had been VP of broadcasting and new media since 2003.  Now, he'll be in charge of FunnyorDie.com, as well as sister sites ShredorDie.com and MyBlueCollar.com. Funny or Die first gained fame last year for Ferrell's "The Landlord" short.

Avot Media announced the appointment of DeWayne A. Nelon as chief executive officer. He succeeds acting CEO, Atam Lalchandani, who will continue his role as Avot Media’s chairman of the board and chief financial officer.

YouTube named Chris Di Cesare head of marketing & programming. The online video portal created the position for Di Cesare, who was previously director of creative marketing at Microsoft.

Vivendi announced today that Régis Turrini has been appointed Senior Executive Vice President for Strategy and Development of Vivendi. He will succeed Robert de Metz, who is leaving the company. Robert de Metz will remain a Director of Canal+ France.

 

Jacques Tortoroli has been named Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of MTV Networks, (MTVN), a unit of Viacom, it was announced today by Judy McGrath, Chairman and CEO, MTV Networks. Tortoroli, who will continue to be based in New York, was formerly Senior Vice President, Controller and Chief Accounting Officer of Viacom. He will assume his new position in early March in order to transition his existing Viacom responsibilities.

 

GSN announced today the appointment of John Zaccario as Senior Vice President of Advertising Sales. Zaccario will oversee advertising sales for all of GSN's media assets, including its 66-million subscriber television network and its online games portal, GSN.com. Zaccario joins the company after serving three years as ESPN's Vice President, Digital Media Sales and Marketing.

Veteran brand marketing and promotion executive Brenda Freeman has been named to the newly created position of chief marketing officer for Turner Animation, Young Adults & Kids Media, it was announced today by Stuart Snyder, executive vice president and chief operating officer, who oversees the Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. portfolio of media properties. In her new role, Freeman will provide overall vision and leadership to all areas of marketing, on-air and trade creative services that support the cable television networks Cartoon Network, Adult Swim and Boomerang, along with their on-line businesses, and the digital enterprises GameTap and Super Deluxe. Her duties will include developing the strategic marketing plans directed at building these businesses among key constituencies—viewers, users, ad sales clients, promotional partners, affiliates and industry trade communities. Freeman began her new responsibilities January 1, 2008, and will be based in Atlanta, reporting directly to Snyder.

 

Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids and Family Group has promoted Samantha Maltin to Senior Vice President (SVP), Integrated Marketing and Partnerships, Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids and Family Group, where she will be responsible for developing global partnerships with U.S.-based companies, and will oversee the expansion and execution of all promotions marketing efforts, both on- and off-air, with key advertisers for the Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids and Family Group brands. The announcement was made by Pam Kaufman, Chief Marketing Officer, Nickelodeon Kids and Family Group, to whom Ms. Maltin will report.
