Tokyo - Sales of video game hardware and software rose 10% to an all-time high of $6.3 billion in 2007, propelled by Nintendo's Wii and DS devices, according to data compiled by Japanese game magazine publisher Enterbrain, the Associated Press reported.

Nintendo's DS handheld outsold all other game devices in Japan last year, moving 7.1 million units, while the company's Wii console took second place, selling 3.6 million units.

By contrast, rival Sony's PlayStation 3 sold just 1.2 million units, while its PSP handheld sold 3 million units -- and Microsoft's Xbox 360 brought up the rear with 257,800 devices sold.

In related news, Nintendo said that its "Wii Fit" game, which features a balancing board accessory and a suite of exercise-related games, has now sold a million units since its release in December.

The company has not yet announced a U.S. release date for the game.
