San Francisco - Kadoink, a developer of mobile music marketing widgets, has raised $7 million in its first round of funding, from Sutter Hill Ventures and angel investors, VentureWire reported.

Formed in 2006, San Francisco-based Kadoink offers a service where bands can create widgets that enable them to send music, voicemail, text messages and other content to fans' cell phones.

Fans can place the widgets on their own websites, and connect with other fans on their cell phones through Kadoink.

Participating artists include Death Cab for Cutie, Kottonmouth Kings, Rogue Wave and Third Eye Blind.

widgets in 2008

2008 is showing more and more that it will be the year of the widgets. A company like Kadoink, or bigwig widget platform Clearspring http://www.clearspring.com/ are going to be huge. With more funding and more developers then ever before this will be an interesting year for widgets.
