Los Gatos, Calif. - Online DVD rental service Netflix (NASD: NFLX) announced on Monday that it will offer unlimited streaming of movie and TV episodes to subscribers of its unlimited monthly DVD rental plans, which start at $8.99 per month.

The move was seen by some as anticipating an announcement from Apple tomorrow regarding movies at the iTunes Store.

Los Gatos, Calif.-based Netflix introduced PC-based viewing of its content last year, and now offers a library of over 6,000 movies and TV episodes for streaming in addition to its 90,000 DVD titles.

"Unlimited has always been a very powerful selling point with our subscribers and a large part of what set us apart in the marketplace," said Netflix chief marketing officer Leslie Kilgore.

"In talking with members about our streaming feature during the past year, it became clear that, as with DVDs, the idea of streaming unlimited movies and TV episodes on a PC resonated quite strongly."

For subscribers to Netflix's basic $4.99 per month service, the company will offer two hours of streaming content per month for free.
