West Hollywood, Calif. - IAC's (NASD: IACI) Ticketmaster announced on Tuesday that it will acquire TicketsNow, an online marketplace for music, sports and other live entertainment event tickets.

Financial terms of the transaction, expected to close in the first quarter, were not disclosed.

Founded in 1999, Illinois-based TicketsNow works with more than 800 "vetted" professional ticket brokers and resellers.

The buy further strengthens Ticketmaster's position in the resale category; the company also operates its own TicketExchange secondary sales service, and has partnerships with the NFL, NHL and NBA.

Ticketmaster said it will create an integrated platform on which fans will be able to simultaneously review and compare ticket availability and pricing in the primary, premium and resale categories.

"We are confident that combining TicketsNow's strong resale network with our audience and distribution capabilities will enable us to set a new standard in the resale category," said Ticketmaster president and CEO Sean Moriarty.
