London
- In the wake of a restructuring announced this week that will include up to
2,000 layoffs, the head of major record label EMI's digital division, Barney Wragg,
has left the company, Billboard reported.
Sources told Billboard that while
Wragg wanted to focus on strategy, EMI was looking for him to be more directly
involved in its new digital initiatives.
Wragg is credited with helping push
through EMI's decision to begin offering music without DRM protections; the
label now distributes MP3s through a variety of retailers.
