Portland, Ore. - More than seven out of ten TV viewers polled in a recent survey said they use their remote controls for simple interactive tasks -- like navigating electronic program guides or scheduling recordings -- and a majority of these also showed interest in increased interactivity for reality shows, sports and even commercials.

The survey, conducted by Harris Interactive on behalf of interactive TV software developer Ensequence, found 72% of reality TV show viewers are interested in enhanced interactive elements, as are 65% of sports viewers and 50% of drama viewers.

Sixty-six percent of viewers said they would also like to interact with TV commercials.

"This study confirms that consumers have higher expectations and want to vote for contestants, get additional product information during commercials, purchase tickets for live events or get scores and statistics during sporting events -- all using their remote controls," said Ensequence CEO Dalen Harrison.
