Santa Monica, Calif. - WonderHowTo.com, a Web index of over 90,000 how-to videos, on Wednesday announced its launch and the closing of a first round of financing, led by General Catalyst Partners.

Financial terms of the investment were not disclosed.

Santa Monica, Calif.-based WonderHowTo.com was co-founded by Stephen Chao, a former executive at News Corp. who helped develop shows like "Cops" and "America's Most Wanted" for Fox.

The site will not host videos, but rather link to how-to videos from around the Web on more than 400 topics, such as fitness, self-help, dancing, languages, auto repair and gardening on other sites.

Scripps Networks, which owns Food Network, HGTV and DIY Network, will provide thousands of videos to the company, as well as handle its advertising sales.
