FlowPlay Gets $3.7 Million for Casual Games Virtual World

Seattle - FlowPlay, the developer of a casual game-focused virtual world targeted at teenagers, has raised $3.7 million in its first round of venture capital financing, led by Intel Capital and Ambient Sound Investments.

Other investors included Ben Feingold, former president of worldwide home entertainment at Sony Pictures, and Michael Schutzler, former SVP of games at RealNetworks.

Founded in 2006, FlowPlay is creating a virtual world where users can create 3D avatars and play casual games in a Flash environment.

The company will use the funds to complete and launch its first entertainment property.
