Samsung, ARM, TI Developing Google Android Mobile Products

Barcelona - Korea's Samsung Electronics, U.K. chip designer ARM and U.S.-based Texas Instruments (NYSE: TXN) separately announced plans on Monday to introduce mobile products based on Google's (NASD: GOOG) Android mobile phone software platform, with the latter planning to introduce a prototype this week at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Both Texas Instruments and ARM have said they will demonstrate prototypes of devices based on Android running their respective phone chips, offering such features as "one button access" to Web browsers, e-mail, video and other functions.

Samsung said Monday that it hopes to bring a phone based on Android to market by early 2009, Reuters reported.

Other handset makers that have previously announced plans to release models based on Google's Android include T-Mobile and Taiwan's HTC.
