Omnifone to Offer Unlimited Mobile Music on LG Handset

Authored by Mark Hefflinger on February 12, 2008 - 10:25am.

Barcelona - Omnifone, a provider of mobile music delivery services, announced on Tuesday the launch of an unlimited mobile music download service, MusicStation Max, and said Korean electronics firm LG has signed on to introduce the first handset to incorporate the new service.

The MusicStation Max devices are pre-licensed, meaning users won't directly pay for music but rather sign up for a plan that enables unlimited mobile downloads.

The plan will have a term of 12-18 months, after which time consumers will be able to upgrade to a new device, or keep playing downloaded tracks at no extra charge.

LG will ship its first MusicStation Max handset in the first half of 2008, and said it will work with Omnifone to introduce a range of pre-licensed 3G and HSDPA unlimited music download mobile handsets this year.
