Santa Clara, Calif. - Macrovision (NASD: MVSN), a provider of anti-piracy and media delivery technologies, announced on Thursday that it has sold its software business unit to private equity firm Thoma Cressey Bravo (TCB) for around $200 million.

The deal includes Macrovision's FLEXnet and InstallShield family of products for software producers, which are used for electronic delivery and installation by independent software vendors.

The transaction will result in a standalone company, which will be led by Mark Bishof, the former EVP and general manager of the unit for Macrovision.

it is worth, one standalone

it is worth, one standalone company is a good idea. Macrovision can intently do copy protection, digital rights management, can develop some software suchas licence protector, it is good for Macrovision.
