Buzz Watch: YouTube's New Video Player With Ads

So, here it is, GooTube's new video player with embedded advertising. Google claims that this YouTube player will automatically target the most relevant videos and ads for your website. If you would like to help refine the targeting, you can enter some keyword hints. In this case, I've tried to target the content to DMW's audience by entering keywords such as Music, Video, TV, Mobile, Games, Tech, Investing, Venture Capital, etc. The player embedded above is the result. What do you think?

No way Jose!

This is so lame. Not only do I get an add at the top that makes no sense to me what so ever. I get an ad during the video playback that makes no point to me. Why would anyone want to target keywords to better an add that I am not actively looking for? It's totally different than searching. Searching matches a personal need with results I WANT. In video, you can never understand what I WANT because you don't know me. That's why I created Blip'd, Google Video Ads are going to be a joke because soon, everyone is going to get blip'd!

Google Player

One problem I encountered is you can't re-fit the player to fit properly on blogspot templates (sidebar widgets). Unlike Youtube you cannot configure the html to fit. I wish I could I want it on my site.

Hi Mike, I noticed the same thing, which is interesting, since both Blogger and YouTube are owned by Google... I would recommend that you use a third-party widget like the ones offered by VodPod.com, which works well on the Blogger sidebar.
