Greenbelt, Md. - Acuity Mobile, a developer of targeted mobile marketing technology, said that it has received a $50,000 investment from the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development (DBED).

The news comes less than a month after the company announced an equity investment from NAVTEQ, a developer of digital maps for vehicle navigation systems.

The latest investment is being made through DBED's Challenge Investment Program, which is designed to assist small start-up companies in the high tech sector.

The company said that it will use the capital to boost its product development, sales and marketing efforts.

Acuity's technology is used to deliver relevant content -- such as ads, offers, traffic and weather reports -- to mobile users based on their interests, time of day and geographic location.
