New York - NBC Universal (NYSE: GE) announced on Monday that it will launch a virtual women's network, featuring content from Bravo, Oxygen, iVillage and other NBC Universal assets, which it says "will enable advertisers to efficiently reach a prime, female demographic across multiple platforms with quality programming."

The announcement was part of a larger realignment of the company's digital media team and operations, which includes the departure of Beth Comstock, president of digital media and market development -- who left to serve as SVP and chief marketing officer at parent company General Electric.

NBC Universal also announced the appointment of Salil Mehta to oversee its digital media team as president, business operations, strategy and development.
