Dulles, Va. - Looking to boost its Web traffic, as well as its appeal to potential advertisers, AOL (NYSE: TWX) is planning to launch at least a dozen new websites by midyear, Bloomberg reported.

"We want to be sure we are appealing to as many consumers as we can,'' Bill Wilson, AOL's executive vice president of programming, told the news organization.

Wilson did not reveal the types of sites that the company is planning.

AOL, which is still trying to transform itself from an Internet service provider to a company focused primarily on Internet advertising, reported a 32% drop in its fourth-quarter revenue.

The company continues to lag behind rivals Yahoo, Google and Microsoft in terms of visitors drawn to its sites.
