Los Angeles - Demand Media, a provider of domain name registration and social media services founded by former MySpace chairman Richard Rosenblatt, said on Tuesday that it has acquired Pluck, a provider of social media and syndication tools.

While Reuters quoted a source saying the deal was valued at between $50 and $60 million, TechCrunch's source put the figure at $75 million in cash.

Founded in 2003, Austin, Texas-based Pluck has to date raised around $17 million in venture capital.

The company powers social media functions for partners including USAToday.com and Guardian.co.uk.
