Los Angeles - Taltopia, an online social network that aims to connect aspiring talent with industry professionals, said on Wednesday that it has raised $800,000 in its first round of funding, led by angel investor Go4Funding.

Los Angeles-based Taltopia (formerly called FameSource.com) was founded by Allen Vartazarian and Anthony Zanontian, now 24 and 22 years old, respectively.

The site lets users upload video, audio and images of themselves performing, whether it be music, acting, dance, comedy or modeling, which are then voted on by other users.

Users can also "buy" their fame with a virtual currency called Famebucks, where prominent placement on the site is awarded to the highest bidders.

The company will use the funds to broaden its reach and develop additional features.
