New York - Drop.io, a provider of websites for sharing photos, videos, documents, and other types of media, announced on Monday that it has raised $2.7 million in its first round of venture capital, led by DFJ Gotham and RRE Ventures.

Drop.io was founded last year.

The company provides multiple methods of sharing content -- uploading through the website, sending e-mail or MMS messages to the drop email address, faxing assets in and out, or by calling the drop voicemail number to leave a voice notes.

The company said the new investment capital will be used to support its infrastructure and engineering team growth, as well as some expanded marketing efforts.
