Highwinds Lands $55 Million for Content Delivery Network

Winter Park, Fla. - Highwinds Network Group, a provider of content delivery network services for IPTV and other applications, announced on Tuesday that it has closed a $55 million round of financing, led by General Catalyst Partners and Alta Communications.

Founded in 2002, Florida-based Highwinds provides a content delivery network service that speeds various Internet content to its location.

The company also announced a partnership with Digital Rapids Corp. and Knack Networks, to create advanced IPTV solutions for professional media companies that handle both live and on-demand channels of video delivery.

Highwinds will use the funds for the infrastructure build-out of its RollingThunder network.
