New York
- ROO Group, a provider of online video broadcasting and related services,
announced on Tuesday that it will acquire Kamera, a Sweden-based provider of
technology that lets partners deliver IPTV channels over mobile and online
networks.
Roo paid a $300,000 advance for the rights to acquire Kamera outright
during a certain term, and also signed a content distribution deal with the
company.
Kamera, which provides services to mobile operators including Vodafone,
MSN, Orange and
China Mobile, projects revenues of $5.6 million in 2008.
New York-based ROO
announced the deal a day after detailing plans to consolidate its operations,
and move its headquarters from New York to Dubai.
The plan also
included Roo's acquisition of the remaining outstanding stake in Sputnik
Agency, and the appointment of Sputnik managing director Gavin Campion as
president of ROO Group.
