Social Media Marketing Firm SplashCast Raises $4 Million

Portland, Ore. - SplashCast, a developer of social marketing applications, announced on Thursday that it has raised $4 million in its first round of venture capital financing, led by Mark Bayliss with participation from Emergent.

Launched in 2007, Oregon-based SplashCast offers multi-channel video players that can be embedded on a user's social network profile page, and delivery videos, games, images and other digital content.

The company claims its social ads receive click-through rates 75 times higher than typical banner ads on MySpace and Facebook, and are viewed by more than 8.5 million monthly unique users.

Clients include SonyBMG, Universal Music, MTV, AEG and PBS.
