San Diego - Tapioca Mobile, the developer of
a platform that lets publishers deliver video, images and audio through SMS
messages on mobile phones, has raised a $5 million first round of financing,
led by Venrock, according to a regulatory filing.

Mobile was co-founded by Sachin Deshpande, formerly head of BREW developer
relations at Qualcomm, and Chas Wurster, whose previous venture Tourmaline
Networks was sold to Nokia.
