Radiohead Launches Song Remix Contest with iTunes

Authored by Mark Hefflinger on April 1, 2008 - 11:30am.

Los Angeles - Radiohead has partnered with Apple's (NASD: AAPL) iTunes Store to give fans the ability to create their own remix for their new single "Nude," offering the separate vocal and instrumental parts of the song for download from the online store.

Users can use Apple's own GarageBand to mix and add their own elements to the song, although the song stems are compatible with several music software platforms.

Finished songs may then be uploaded to RadioheadRemix.com, where the public will vote on them; users may also place voting widgets on their own websites that will count in the final tally.

The best will then be made available on iTunes later this year.

Radiohead also recently authorized a full album of remixes of the songs from its new album "In Rainbows" by producer Amplive.
