New York - Fix8, a division of Mobinex that provides 3D avatar animation technology, announced on Thursday that it has raised an additional $2 million in its first round of financing, from South Korean wireless network operator SK Telecom.

New York-based Fix8 said its first financing round is closed at over $5 million, and that it will use the funds for additional product development.

Along with the investment, SK Telecom has also hired Fix8 to develop 3D avatar animation technology for its online and mobile services.

Fix8 said its technology can digitize human expressions via webcam in real-time, allowing users to animate live video on IM services including MSN, Yahoo, AIM and Skype, as well as save and post videos on social networks and video sites.
