San Francisco - Seesmic, a provider of webcam video distribution services, announced on Friday that it has acquired Twhirl, an application that connects with Twitter, Pownce, Jaiku and other "microblogging" services.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

San Francisco-based Seesmic, which was founded by French entrepreneur Loic Le Meur, said the deal will allow users of Seesmic, Twhirl and Twitter to start video conversations straight from their desktops, without the need for a Web browser.
