Disney Interactive Studios Buys Chinese Developer Gamestar

Burbank, Calif. - Disney Interactive Studios (NYSE: DIS), the company's video game publishing unit, announced on Monday that it has acquired Chinese independent game studio Gamestar, for an undisclosed sum.

Founded in 2002, Gamestar employs a staff of more than 90 people at locations in Shanghai and Wuhan, China.

The studio becomes the sixth to be acquired by Disney. The company also owns Avalanche Software, Fall Line Studio, Propaganda Games, Black Rock Studio, and Junction Point Studios.
