Qik Lands $3 Million for Live Mobile Video Streaming

San Mateo, Calif. - Qik, a platform for streaming live video via mobile phones, announced this week that it has raised a $3 million second round of venture capital financing.

Investors included Salesforce.com CEO Marc Benioff; Telesoft Partners founder Arjun Gupta; and George Garrick, president and CEO of Jingle Networks.

San Mateo, Calif.-based Qik (formerly Visivo Communications) debuted its live mobile video streaming service in December 2007, and currently claims thousands of users in 55 countries.

Qik can stream live video from a mobile phone to the Web, TV, gaming consoles and other mobile phones.

Users with Nokia smartphones can use Qik to stream videos to any blog or website, including Twitter, Pownce, Justin.tv, Facebook and YouTube.

The service also offers real-time notifications and chat from Web to mobile, and allows users to view recorded Qik videos from their phones.
