Social Networking Start-up Uber Gets $5.5 Million

Los Angeles - Uber, a social networking start-up co-founded by former Friendster CEO and NBC Entertainment president Scott Sassa, has received $5.5 million of a $7.6 million second round of venture capital financing, PEHub.com reported, citing a regulatory filing.

Backers of the company include Universal Music Group and Sterling Stamos Co-Investors Fund.

Founded in 2006, Los Angeles-based Uber offers features like drag-and-drop placement of photos and other media, custom skinnable media players, and a suite of widgets.
