Video Game Developer Realtime Worlds Gets $50 Million

Dundee, Scotland - Independent video game developer Realtime Worlds announced on Monday that it has raised $50 million in its second round of funding, led by Maverick Capital.

Previous investor New Enterprise Associates and marketing services firm WPP also participated.

Founded in 2002, Scotland-based Realtime Worlds is staffed by developers who created franchises such as "Lemmings" and "Grand Theft Auto."

The company recently worked with Microsoft Game Studios on "Crackdown," and is currently in development on a multiplayer online game called "All Points Bulletin."

Realtime Worlds will use the funds to support continued growth and expansion.
