Montreal - Akoha, the developer of a new social game with elements of social entrepreneurship, multiplayer and reality-based games, announced on Monday that it has raised $1.9 million in new financing from angel investors.

Montreal-based Akoha was co-founded by Austin Hill, former president and co-founder of Zero-Knowledge Systems, and Alex Eberts, who was a video game producer at Ubisoft before joining Zero-Knowledge with Hill.

"We're delighted that our investors share our belief in bringing fresh ideas to the gaming world," said Akoha CEO Austin Hill.

"The support of our incredible angels has allowed us to develop an innovative product and will support the company while we launch and build our player community into 2009."

The company has opened beta testing on its game, but said it will not release further details until its public launch in the fall.
