HD Video Streamer Vusion Gets Funds; Signs Island Def Jam

San Jose, Calif. - Vusion, a provider of HD-quality streaming video distribution services, on Monday announced its official launch and the signing of Island Def Jam Music Group as its first customer.

The San Jose, Calif.-based company has raised an undisclosed sum of first round funding from BlueRun Ventures and other investors.

Vusion says it can deliver "instant-on," "true 720p HD quality" video to 95% of all broadband customers, using models based on advertising, subscription services, pay-per-view with full DRM, syndication and new hybrid revenue models.

Island Def Jam will use the Vusion platform for an online video portal where users can view its music videos from artists including Kanye West and Mariah Carey in DVD quality.
