Hollywood, Calif. - Buzznet, a music-focused social media community, on Tuesday announced that it has acquired yet another music site, this time purchasing alternative music Web zine Absolute Punk for an undisclosed sum. The deal follows Hollywood-based Buzznet's recent acquisitions of music blogs Stereogum and Idolator, and a $25 million round of financing earlier this year from investors that included Universal Music Group.

Founded in 2000, Absolute Punk claims an active community of more than 500,000 users, who engage one another in forums and millions of community-contributed posts related to punk, emo, hardcore and general "indie" music.

"Absolute Punk's loyal community and high quality editorial and social news database will only help to make the Buzznet music experience that much better for the fans," said Buzznet general manager Scott Boyd.

"This partnership will allow us to maintain our own individuality and editorial voice that is unique to Absolute Punk while providing us with valuable resources to achieve goals and grow in ways we never imagined would be possible," added Absolute Punk founder Jason Tate.
