Mountain View, Calif. - Kontiki, the developer of a managed peer delivery platform for video and digital content, said on Tuesday that it has completed its split from parent VeriSign.

The company, which had been VeriSign's Broadband Content Services unit, now will be re-launched as Kontiki Inc., with funding from MK Capital.

Originally founded in 2000, Kontiki was acquired by VeriSign for $62 million in 2006.

With the split, Kontiki will retain all of its customers, as well as several members of its original management team, including Eric Armstrong, who has been named president, and former CEO Todd Johnson, who is now chairman.

VeriSign announced plans to divest of several non-core businesses in November.
