Mobile Entertainment Distributor PlayPhone Merges with Pitch

San Jose, Calif. - PlayPhone, a mobile entertainment content distributor, announced on Wednesday that it has merged with U.K.-based Pitch Entertainment Group.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

"Pitch Entertainment Group is an innovative and market-leading global mobile entertainment company," said Ron Czerny, founder and CEO of PlayPhone.

"Having their expertise in building direct-to-consumer services for international markets establishes PlayPhone as a true leader in creating and marketing compelling, localized mobile entertainment services across the globe."

Founded in 2003, San Jose, Calif.-based PlayPhone operates a direct-to-consumer mobile content portal at PlayPhone.com, and also powers mobile content subscription services for customers including Wal-Mart, ABC Television, Cartoon Network and RealNetworks.

London-based Pitch distributes mobile entertainment content in more than 20 countries across Europe, Asia and Africa.
